Battlefield 3 Increase FPS - A How To Guide

Have Battlefield 3? Want to increase your FPS? Here is a quick run-down on how to increase your Battlefield 3 framerate:

* Start by dropping "unnecessary" settings like anti-aliasing and particle effects. If you don't have the hardware to run such high-end settings then you will get a better experience by turning them off and having a smoother frame rate.

* If you want to increase Battlefield 3 FPS then make sure your drivers are up to date. Whether you have an ATi/AMD card, or an Nvidia model, make sure you have the latest possible drivers. On my gaming laptop I saw a massive performance boost from upgrading my drivers to the latest BF3 approved edition.

* Close down any unnecessary programs that run in the background and could suck up processor power. Things like Daemon Tools (unless you actually use it to run BF3) or the Winamp agent should be shut down.

* Lower the in-game resolution. Sure, things will look a bit less impressive, but those extra FPS might make the difference between a fun game and a crap game.

* Reduce your BF3 lag; sometimes you might mistake lag for poor framerate.

* Overclock your PC. If you want the most performance possible from your current hardware then this is the best choice. There are many factors to consider when overclocking, and although it can yield some amazing results you do need to be certain of what you are doing. I recommend investing in the TweakBoy's Ultimate Overclocking Handbook. For less than $50 you can get hundreds of dollars of extra performance out of your computer.

What Is The Best Battlefield 3 Strategy Guide?

So what exactly is the best Battlefield 3 strategy guide? There are a quite a few different options out there when it comes to professionally produced guides for BF3. I've had a look at the majority of them (yes, I have some mad "hook ups") and have reached a conclusion:

If you are a newbie BF3 player and want to learn how to play well enough not to get your ass kicked, then you should go for Relik Battlefield 3 Guide. In my "What Is The Best Battlefield 3 Guide?" roundup I praised the excellent beginner guide and attention to detail; the presentation of this guide is also second-to-none.

However, for the more experienced gamer it may lack enough pro-tips and high end strategies. Basically, Relik Guide is great for teaching you how to play the game, but is not so good at showing you how to absolutely dominate it.

If you fancy yourself reasonably talented at games then you want CJ's Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide. I'm a big fan of CJ's gaming guides, and really liked his Rift Supremacy Guide.

Battlefield 3 Dominator will teach you some truly powerful strategies and gaming techniques that would normally take hours and hours of practice. Although it is quite pricey at $34.99, there is a watertight 60 day money-back guarantee if you aren't satisfied, and there is an awful lot of quality content in this guide.

Oh, did I mention it has video instructions and strategy guides? No, no I did not.

Battlefield 3 Tips Tricks & Hacks

Here are some pretty nifty Battlefield 3 tips, tricks, and hacks that will help you dominate the game:

  1. Make use of squadmates as mobile spawn points. This lets you get back into the battle in the shortest amount of time possible (don't waste ages trekking across the battlefield)
  2. Always aim with every shot, unless you are laying down covering fire with an LMG or mounted weapon.
  3. Throw a grenade, then attack from a different angle - this will confuse your opponents.
  4. Learn how to use cover in Battlefield 3 - way too many people still aren't using cover properly, and this shows.
  5. Turn off your tac light when you don't need it. This will easily give your position away to snipers.
  6. Turn up the volume and listen for enemy movements. Sometimes listening is better than seeing.
  7. If you are playing for PC, make sure you have optimized your computer for good framerates etc. Learn how to boost your Battlefield 3 framerate.
  8. Always communicate with other team members.
  9. Always go for the objective - mindlessly hunting enemies that aren't distracting you from the objective is fun, but it won't help you to win.
  10. Swap to another weapon instead of reloading in an emergency. This is quicker than reloading, especially for machine guns etc.
  11. Check out my Battlefield 3 strategy guide comparison and get one of the guides - you will learn all sorts of tricks and secrets for winning every game, every time.
  12. Focus on "killing zones" on maps. These are locations where most people pass through in large concentrations (both friendly and enemy) if you set up camp properly you can rack up mega kills in killing zones.

My Traffic Dropped Like Crazy - Any Ideas Why?

I'm not the biggest website nut out there, so could any of you guys possibly explain to me why the number of visitors to this blog has fallen out of bed overnight? I was getting 100+ visitors a day, and now only a handful of that are coming through.

Is there some glaring hole in this blog that I'm missing? Maybe I need a Manifestation Miracle to get my site's mojo back!

What is your LEAST Favorite Thing About Battlefield 3?

If you had to point out one major gripe in Battlefield 3 that you would like resolved, what would it be?

For me, it would have to be the destruction model used. Although you can blow a lot of stuff up, it still doesn't quite feel realistic enough to me. Perhaps I listened to the promises and hype of the game pre-launch a bit too much, but in an ideal world more things would detonate with realistic force.

So what is your biggest BF3 gripe?

How To Win Battlefield 3

In case you haven't already realized, I absolutely love Battlefield 3. I think it is one of the most exciting games to have come out in quite some time; even though the singleplayer is pretty crap, the multiplayer is so much fun. However, it can be frustrating to play with gamers who don't really know what they are doing. That's why you need to learn how to win Battlefield 3 - so you can provide a solid challenge for other players, and that way everyone has a better time.

Today I am going to show you some simple ways to win Battlefield 3. They aren't gonna be complicated or difficult to follow. They aren't 'silver bullet' strategies that let you legally cheat the game. Instead, these are good, old-fashioned tactics that will let you master Battlefield 3 with ease:

  1. Focus on the objective - This is, by far, the most important thing to remember if you want to win Battlefield 3. Battles are won on the basis of objective completion, and not just which team can kill the most enemies. If you and your team focus on the objective then you will win far more often than you lose.
  2. Work as a team - Teamwork is crucial to winning Battlefield 3. This is not some no holds barred action game like the Modern Warfare series (where individual skill and the ability to rack up killstreaks determines the winner) Teamwork will pull you through tough battles. Now I know it's hard to work as a team when you don't actually know the people you are playing with personally, but you should still be using voice and written communication where possible to relay strategies etc to your team.
  3. Use cover - Okay, it's not a real battle, so if you forget to take cover and get shot nothing nasty is going to happen to you. However, if you want to win Battlefield 3 games regularly then you must start using cover. I go further into detail about this point in my guide to using cover in Battlefield 3.
  4. Read a BF3 strategy guide - There are a lot of tips, tricks, and strategies that you can use to master Battlefield 3 and win your games. The easiest way to get them all is in a Battlefield 3 strategy guide. For your convenience, read my review of the best Battlefield 3 strategy guides.

Can I Play Battlefield 3 On My Laptop?

I sometimes post on Yahoo Answers, and frequent some gaming forums too. A question I have seen raised quite often is:

Can I play Battlefield 3 on my laptop?

A lot of us, especially college students or those living in more cramped abodes don't have the room (nor the cash) to spend up large on a gaming desktop. Good luck fitting a full tower and 27 inch monitor with computer desk into your dorm room is all I can say.

So can you play Battlefield 3 on your laptop?

It really depends on what kind of laptop you have. Once upon a time laptop gaming was all but impossible; only 2d isometric games like Age of Empires 2 were able to be played on laptops because of their lack of graphics processing hardware (and slower processors)

Things have changed a lot, and now there are many laptops that promise good gaming performance. Probably the most well-known gaming laptop brand is Alienware- they make some great quality gear. Unfortunately most gaming laptops are very expensive and quite bulky. Lugging a fully-fledged gaming laptop around all day is going to get tiring.

That's not to say that gaming laptops are rubbish. I, in fact, own one myself and really like it. It's an Asus Republic of Gamers model with an i7 processor, 8gb of ram, and 1gb Nvidia GTS 460M graphics (along with Blu-Ray and 3d vision)

Now I know I'll probably get flamed for saying I own such a machine by player-haters saying 'aww bro you should have built a desktop yourself for a third the price' - I do not care. I bought it because I am pressed for space, and was on holiday and the thing was on special.

This laptop plays new games very well. Battlefield 3 runs smoothly on all but the highest graphics settings, and it plays other favorites of mine like Medieval 2 Total War flawlessly.

Can you play Battlefield 3 on your laptop?

If your laptop has a Core 2 Duo, i3 or anything lower than a fast i5 (or AMD equivalent) I probably wouldn't bother. You are going to get crummy framerate even on lower settings and not really enjoy the game. Turbo boost available on some newer mobile Intel laptops is very useful for ramping up framerates though.

The biggest limiting factor for mobile gaming is always going to be the graphics hardware though. A lot of laptops come with very average onbard graphics that splits system memory with video memory. Fine for browsing the web etc and tasks that most laptop users perform, but not for gaming. To play BF3 on your laptop you really need at least 1gb of dedicated video memory, because laptop graphic chips tend to run at a lower clock speed than desktop cards.

You can get some performance boosts by updating your drivers- when I updated my laptop chip to the latest Nvidia drivers I noticed quite handsome performance increases in some games.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that unless you have a gaming specific laptop, don't bother with BF3. You won't enjoy it and would be better served buying the console version instead.

Or, save your pennies and get one of these:
3gb of video RAM in a GTX 560M chip? Sounds good to me.

The price? Click here to find out, because I don't want to give you a heart attack.

How To Use Cover In Battlefield 3

Recently I covered how to snipe and aim properly in Battlefield 3. Today we are going to look at how to use cover in Battlefield 3 so that you don't get killed as often. By avoiding dying you will boost your game score and be more likely to win matches.

I see a lot of players who don't seem to use any form of cover when playing BF3. Running around the battlefield like a headless chicken is a great way to get killed (if you're into losing at video games) Here's a quick guide to using cover in Battlefield 3:

  • When taking up position always crouch or go prone if you have limited cover. This will make you much harder to hit.
  • Grass and trees etc provide concealment but not true cover- they won't stop bullets or rounds (especially with the physics/damage model in BF3)
  • Take cover behind rocks, walls, buildings etc. then pop up and fire a few shots. Remember to move to a different location after you have made your presence known. This is especially important if you are taking cover behind something that could be destroyed reasonably easily.
  • Don't crowd together in cover with your teammates as this will make you easy prey for explosives and grenades etc.
  • Windows provide a good covered spot to open fire from, as do rooftops.
  • Try and get cover that takes the high ground over your enemies.
  • Read my comparison of the leading Battlefield 3 strategy guides to see which one will help you master cover in BF3 and win the game.

How To Reduce Lag In Battlefield 3

Reducing lag is an extremely important part of being a successful Battlefield 3 player. If you have lots of lag it is going to be far more difficult for you to win, because your shots will always be missing (even if they are aimed correctly) Also, enemies will seem to magically appear from nowhere as a consequence of lag too.

Today you are going to learn how to reduce lag in Battlefield 3 for all three platforms (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) There are far more options for reducing lag on PC, namely because of the much bigger range of hardware and software configurations available. However, you can still cut down lag on console platforms too.

Reduce Battlefield 3 Lag for PS3 & Xbox 360

  1. Make sure your console firmware is updated to the latest version. This can be done easily from within the Xbox 360 and PS3 dashboards.
  2. Swtich to a hard wired connection if possible. Hard wired Internet beats wireless every time in terms of speed.
  3. If you are using wireless make sure your wireless router is set on the right channel, and also that the computer it connects through (if applicable) has up to date drivers.
  4. If you have fiddled around with the wireless or network settings on your console in the past try setting them to default again, then work around from there.
  5. The placement of your wireless router is hugely important; make sure there is a clear signal path free of interference points such as cordless phones and microwave ovens.
Reduce Battlefield 3 Lag for PC

  1. Shut down all background applications that use Internet bandwidth. Especially important is turning off file sharing programs or software that constantly auto-updates. Background programs can hog a lot of system resources and Internet bandwidth and will result in poor gaming speed online.
  2. Update your network hardware drivers to the latest version.
  3. Patch Battlefield 3 to the latest version.
  4. Switch to a cabled connection from wireless if possible. This will always yield superior performance.
  5. If you are using wireless then use quality wireless components (both card and router)
  6. Ensure that there is a clear broadcast signal for your wireless connection free of interference.
  7. Use cable and not DSL Internet if possible.
  8. Pick servers located as close to your home as possible.
Reducing lag in Battlefield 3 is not too difficult if you follow the steps listed above. Just work methodically through them and you will have a far better gaming experience.

How To Aim In Battlefield 3

Learning to be an accurate shooter is absolutely crucial for Battlefield 3. Today I am going to give you a brief overview of how to aim in Battlefield 3 so you can increase your accuracy, conserve ammo, and more importantly survive longer on the battlefield.

The most important thing you can do to improve your accuracy when playing Battlefield 3 is to aim down the sights. Rather than firing from the hip you should be aiming every shot or burst of fire you make to ensure that you better hit your mark. The only exception is if you are using a light machine gun, in which case you can spray fire to keep enemies in cover (this is the whole point of LMGs after all)

You should also be crouching or prone when firing if possible. Prone tends to be better for snipers laying in wait or if you have a very good observation position such as a rooftop to fire from. Crouch works well for all situations; run forward until you see an enemy then crouch behind cover. This will boost your accuracy and also help keep you covered from enemy fire.

Aiming is extremely important to more realistic shooters like Battlefield 3. You need to cut your teeth with basic gameplay mechanics like aiming and cover until you are getting good scores and a favorable kill/death ratio. The best way to learn how to own the game is to read a proper Battlefield 3 strategy guide; click here to see my comparison of the three leading BF3 strategy guides.

Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Guide

Here is a more detailed Battlefield 3 multiplayer guide that I have been putting together over the last week. The whole point of this guide is to show you some wicked tips and strategies you can use to really up your game. Whether you are an absolute beginner or plowing through the levels like a pro gamer you will be able to benefit from my BF3 multiplayer guide.

  1. Minimize lag. Whether you are playing on PC, PS3, or 360 this is absolutely crucial to winning at Battlefield 3. You need to minimize your lag as much as possible to ensure you maintain a competitive edge at this game. Switch to a wired network connection from wireless if possible as this will yield improved connection speeds. If you are a PC gamer make sure your wireless card drivers are up to date. You should also pick servers that are located closer to your area of residence. If you get lots of lag it will be difficult to win unfortunately.
  2. Increase framerate (PC only) Increasing your framerate is important for PC gamers if you want to win. Click the following link for my free guide to boosting your Battlefield 3 framerate.
  3. Improve your 'fundamental skills'. Improving your fundamental skills of shooting, aiming, reloading and moving are essential and a big focus of my Battlefield 3 multiplayer guide. You need to be working on improving your accuracy, using special class-specific abilities such as the mortar launcher, and working on using cover and crouch/prone properly. Remember to always fire down the sights, unless you are using a spray and pray weapon in the support class. If you are a sniper player then learn how to snipe properly. Learning how to get good at the basic 'mechanics' of the game is the biggest thing you can do to get good at Battlefield 3.
  4. Work with your team. I have stressed the importance of this before, and will always continue to stress the huge importance of teamwork for games like Battlefield 3. You need to communicate as much as possible with your teammates in order to have the greatest chance of winning. Use either headset communication or keyboard communication when PC gaming, or just the headset when playing on console. Take charge of your squad or team and lead them toward the objectives.
  5. Focus on the match objectives. The biggest 'secret' to winning at Battlefield 3 is to focus squarely on the match objectives. Although mucking around and enemy hunting is fun, if you want to build your level quickly and win lots you will be better served by aiming squarely for the objective. Whether that is attacking or defending a point or anything else you need to really focus on this in order to win.
  6. Use the right class at the right time. This is pretty self-explanatory, but it is very important that you are using the right class at the right time. For general attacking and defending assault is a great choice. For indoors work I like engineer. Support is very good for defence, and recon is generally useful for sneaking and sniping.
  7. Get a Battlefield 3 multiplayer strategy guide. If you are serious about winning at Battlefield 3 then you should get a detailed strategy and map guide for multiplayer. You can check out my in-depth comparison of the three leading BF3 multiplayer guides here.

How To Snipe In BF3

Today we are going to look at how to snipe in BF3. Running at people with an assault rifle or light machine gun is pretty straightforward in this game, but learning how to use the sniper rifle correctly can be a bit more confusing.

  • The most basic tenet of sniping in Battlefield 3 is to use cover. Don't wander around in the open trying to snipe; instead you need to hide behind things.
  • Always shoot from prone- crouch is only acceptable if you cannot get a shot in otherwise. Never shoot standing if you want accuracy.
  • Move around the battlefield a bit. If you keep sniping from the same position sooner or later people are gonna realize where you are and nab you. Fire off a couple of shots, then move to another covering position.
  • Experiment with rifles to find your favorite. I prefer the very slow to reload but powerful rifles for sniping (I don't miss) However, others prefer to use rifles that fire more rapidly but afford less power so they can pop more shots off. Both styles of play warrant attention so try until you find which one you like.
  • Don't get caught up in close range battles. This is fairly self-explanatory; you don't want to get caught up in close quarters combat where you run the risk of getting dominated. Make sure you keep a safe distance between you and your enemies.
Now that you know how to snipe in BF3, check out my Battlefield 3 strategy guide comparison. It will help you take your BF3 gaming to the next level.

Modern Warfare 3 Perses Guide Out

Any keen gamer cannot have ignored the raging debate between whether Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3 was to be the game of the year in 2011 (trailing a distant third in this race is Skyrim of course) Now that both are out and playable, I am going out on a whim to say that BF3 is the better game, well at least for multiplayer. That is not to say that MW3 is no fun of course- the very rapid pace of play makes for a great game to play with your buddies on a night in.

CJ who wrote Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide, which is the BF3 multiplayer guide that I recommend, has just come out with Perses Guide for Modern Warfare 3. I've had a chance to look through this guide already (it's only been out a very short time mind you) and am so far rather impressed. It follows a similar format to Battlefield 3 Dominator, but is aimed squarely at COD MW3 players. If you have bought MW3 or are planning on doing so then you can check Perses Guide out here.

No doubt CJ will be updating it regularly as more MW3 strategies come to the fore.

In the meantime check out my initial thoughts on Perses Guide, as well as some MW3 tips and strategies at my new Modern Warfare 3 Perses Guide Review blog.

Relik Battlefield 3 Guide Review

If you haven't already read my in-depth Battlefield 3 strategy guide roundup then I recommend you do so now to see how the three big BF3 guides stack up (Relik, BF3 Dominator, and Stark's Guide) In this post I am going to do a more detailed Relik Battlefield 3 guide review; it placed second in my overall comparison review, but I did really like how beginner friendly it was, and how professionally presented the guide is.

Here is a more in-depth review of Relik's Battlefield 3 strategy guide:

Relik Battlefield 3 Guide was one of the first paid strategy guides to be released for Battlefield 3. I can only assume it was in development through the beta phase of the game, and then any changes in gameplay were reflected in the final version of the guide.

Everything in the Relik Game Guide applies to all three versions of Battlefield 3. Whether you are playing on PC, PS3, or Xbox 360 Relik is relevant to all three platforms. The only differences come with control layouts (obviously) and also the fact that the PC version of the game has more players on screen at once. However, the Relik team do a very good job at pointing out any differences when they are relevant.

The thing I liked the most about Relik Battlefield 3 Guide (especially compared to other guides such as Battlefield 3 Dominator) is the strong focus on beginner instruction. If you are a 'newbie' to the game then Battlefield 3 can actually be quite overwhelming. Nothing sucks more than constantly getting killed, losing matches, and not gaining experience quickly. Many Battlefield 3 guides unfortunately skip right over the important fact that the vast majority of readers are going to be less experienced players who need a bit of a helping hand. Therefore, Relik Battlefield 3 guide really does win my recommendation for you if you are new to playing BF3 and online FPS games in general.

I would liken Relik Battlefield 3 game to a bootcamp; only a boot camp that is seriously good fun. The Relik Guide places plenty of focus on basic aspects of the game like accuracy and moving into cover that actually add up to massively improving your gaming experience. Rather than trying to come up with outrageous 'guaranteed' strategies, Relik focuses more on getting your skill level up so you can win much more easily.

Of course this is not always a good thing. If you are looking for the best winning strategies then you would be better served getting Battlefield 3 Dominator. Also, more experienced gamers may find Relik BF3 guide a little lacking at points.

Naturally, it has a walkthrough for both the singeplayer and multiplayer portion of the game. This is pretty much par for the course with most BF3 guides, although you really shouldn't be wasting your time with the singleplayer game at all. Focus on multi player for Battlefield 3 and you will have a far better gaming experience.

Relik Battlefield 3 Guide sells for $37 USD. This is a bit steep in my opinion, but you do get free updates and a money back guarantee to compensate somewhat (I guess you could use the term 'risk free') Also, because payment is handled by Clickbank you can use any major credit card or Paypal, and your details are guaranteed to be safe and secure.

Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Manual

Do you remember the good old days of gaming when games came in huge cardboard boxes, inside which there were further boxes filled with game disks, bonus maps and materials? I do, and I yearn for the 'golden age' of PC gaming. Reading a physically printed game manual was so much better than having to open some crummy PDF which doesn't really tell you how to play the game anyway. In this post I am going to give you my own Battlefield 3 multiplayer manual, so you can learn the truly important aspects of playing this great game online. Everything in this post relates to all BF3 platforms, so whether you're a PC gamer like me yearning for the 'glory days', or a hardened PS3 or 360 addict, you can benefit from my BF3 multiplayer guide.

As a caveat, I'm assuming you have a basic knowledge of how to play the game in terms of controls. I don't really want to go through a list of controls for all three platforms, so provided you have prior knowledge of how the basic mechanics of the game work (and you know how to join a game too) we can begin:

  1. Picking the right class. Selecting the best class to use in the situation is the first aspect of Battlefield 3 multiplayer that you simply must get right. Sure, you can have fun as any class, but my Battlefield 3 multiplayer manual is all about winning- and having fun in the process. The first step to knowing what class to pick is to look at the map. If you are playing on a more enclosed map then you should be looking at Assault, or possibly even Engineer for shotgun capabilities. Support is alright, but spray and pray is no match for a close range assault player with good accuracy. On the other hand, a map with lots of wide open spaces and sniping zones means Recon comes into its own. Next, you need to look at the mission objectives to determine which class to spawn as. Lots of blunt assaulting of chokepoints is going to warrant Support or Assault. If it is a vehicle heavy map Engineer can be useful here too to take down enemy vehicles.
  2. Working as a team. One of the hardest things to do in Battlefield 3 is to work effectively in a team unit. Because your team is liable to change every single time you play the match, and because you could be playing with people thousands of miles away, building up a good sense of team strategy is rather tricky. However, there are a few little tricks you can employ to build up your teamwork in BF3. Firstly, make good use of the text chat function (this is for PC players) you can type up quick orders on the fly and then pass them on to the rest of your team. You can also report on enemy movements etc much more easily this way than by headset communication. Usually headset communication in video games just turns into a farce very quickly- but if you are assertive and confident on the mic you can often wind up leading your team more effectively.
  3. Focus on the objective. I have said it before and I will definitely say it again- focusing on the objective is the best way of winning in BF3. If only the Battlefield 3 manual reasserted this important tenet of multiplayer success enough. Of course it's fun to try and fly an attack helicopter through a tunnel, but if you want to win (which is why I assume you are reading this blog) then you need to focus on the objective. Not only that, but you need to get your team to focus on the objective too. Use clear communication and get people to work towards the objective- this way you will win and have a lot of fun too.
So there is my three step Battlefield 3 multiplayer manual. Follow it, and you will have much more success with your BF3 games. While you're here, read my comparison review of the top 3 Battlefield 3 strategy guides- if you are serious about playing this game then you want a serious strategy guide. I've read them all, and I'm gonna give you straight up verdict on which one is best. Click here to read more.

What's Your Favorite Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Map?

Okay guys, now that I'm getting a few more readers to this blog I want to know what everyones' favorite multiplayer map in Battlefield 3 is. There some really cool and interesting maps in this game, and there is plenty of scope for moving around and exploring them.

My personal favorite is  Damavand Peak. Call me silly, call me stupid, but I just love that epic jump down to the action. It reminds me of playing Battlefield 1942 as a kid during my school holidays, on my crummy old 1.3gHz Athlon and 32mb TNT graphics card, and then always playing 'Operation Market Garden' map as the allies just to get the chance to parachute into the battle. Oh, the nostalgia!

So what is your favorite BF3 map, and why?

Boost Your Battlefield 3 Framerate

If you are playing the PC version of Battlefield 3, which you should be doing because it is the best by far, you will have probably realized by now that this game is quite a system hog. Unless you have big bucks to afford the latest and greatest gaming system (dual GTX 590s anybody?) or you are an expert overclocker and have wrung every nanoparticle of power out of your system already then you will probably want to know how to boost your Battlefield 3 framerate.

Today I am going to walk you through a few simple steps you can use to speed up your computer for Battlefield 3 and help you get the best gaming experience possible:

  1. Update your video card drivers to the latest possible. Visit either the AMD/ATi or the nVidia website, depending on your card, in order to get the best drivers. Even laptop gamers will benefit from updated drivers.
  2. Update your motherboard firmware/BIOS. This is a bit more tricky, but find out your motherboard model using a program such as CPU-Z, and then check online to see if there are any firmware or BIOS updates available. Remember to create a system restore point before you do this.
  3. Defragment your hard drive. Although the usefulness of doing this has diminished somewhat with newer Microsoft operating systems, you should still defragment regularly for optimal computing performance.
  4. Turn off anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering. Unless you have a high end VGA card these two options will eat up a lot of GPU power. You will notice the increase in performance more than you notice the decrease in graphics quality.
  5. Use a wired Internet connection. For hardcore gaming you should be playing with a hardwired Internet connection. If this is not possible and you must use wireless then make sure your wireless drivers are up to date, and try moving as close as possible to your wireless router.
  6. Overlock. Visit Overclock.net if you are an overclocking newb and learn how to squeeze every last bit of performance possible out of your hardware. Overclocking a graphics card is easier than O/Cing your processor- you just keep upping the clock speed on your GPU until you see 'artifacts' (these are little graphical distortions) then roll back the clock speed 5-10 mhz and enjoy increased performance. Mid range cards that run cool benefit the most from overclocking. On the other hand, overclocking your CPU is harder, as there is greater risk of permanently damaging your processor. Remember that you need to keep your PC well-ventilated in order to overclock. I really do recommend that you give overclocking a go, as you can extend the 'life span' of your hardware in terms of performance quite dramatically. Get Tweakboy's Ultimate Overclocking Handbook, and you will learn how to maximize your overclocking results and avoid damaging your PC. Using Tweakboy's guide you should easily see about a 15-25% increase in BF3 performance.
  7. Clean your registry out. If you have been installing and uninstalling programs and applications regularly on your Windows computer then your registry may well be quite clogged up with 'junk'- it is dangerous to go delete this manually, but cleaning the registry can yield impressive performance boosts. Try this free tool called 'Registry Fix' - it is effective and will clean up your registry safely and thus boost your Battlefield 3 Framerate.

Battlefield 3 Class Guide – Guide To The Classes In BF3!

One of the most important parts of Battlefield 3 is knowing about the classes in the game. If you want to play BF3 well and win lots then you need to know what each class is good at doing, and how to use them properly.

Battlefield 3 Class Guide

There are 4 classes in Battlefield 3. They are:

Assault Class – This is best if you are new to the game as it will give you a good starter class that is good at mid-range and short range combat. Just watch out for snipers with this class. If you don't know what to play as or are new to online FPS shooters then you should definitely consider playing as the assault class. I personally play as Assault a lot, just because I like getting into the thick of the action quickly.

Support Class – If you want to have some time off the front line then try out this class as the focus will be on providing support. You can get some awesome points by laying down covering fire and also making sure you heal your squad. If you are into heavy machine guns etc then this is the class for you- 'spray and pray' at its absolute finest here.

Engineer Class – The master of vehicles and you can make awesome points by fixing the vehicles in the game and you are also very good at short range combat as well. This is because the engineer class receives the shotgun, which is an extremely useful weapon to have. Breeching doors and going in 'gung ho' is the domain of the engineer.

Recon Class – Check out this class if you fancy staying to the shadows and sniping people. The recon class gets to use the sniper rifle to great effect, but it is absolutely crucial that you then stay out of close or mid range battle unless you want to get your ass handed to you.

What Is The Best Battlefield 3 Guide?

Now that Battlefield 3 has been out for over a week, a few strategy guides have begun to spring up. These strategy guides are aimed at showing you how to play BF3 well; they are primarily about multiplayer gaming, although the singleplayer campaign is covered by most strategy guides too. Today you are going to learn what the best Battlefield 3 guide is. In this shootout between the three top BF3 multiplayer strategy guides, you will learn whether the Relik Battlefield 3 Guide, Starks Battlefield 3 Guide, or Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide is the best.

I am going to use brief bullet points to outline the pros and cons of each one of these three guides, so that you can make up your own mind as to which one is the best. Remember that these are not free guides- they are professionally produced and high quality products.  Anyway, it's time to get down to business, so let's start by looking at Relik Battlefield 3 Guide:

The 'eCover' of Relik BF3 guide

* Has been out for the longest of all the Battlefield 3 guides.

* The strategies in Relik work for all three BF3 platforms; it does not matter whether you are playing on PC, Xbox 360, or PS3.

* Contains an excellent beginner guide for BF3. If you are a bit confused by the game, or have not had much experience with past Battlefield games, then this will be very useful for you.

* I like the extremely professional presentation of the Relik BF3 guide website- the team behind the product have put a lot of effort into it.

* The in-depth class guides are simply brilliant. Even though I am an experienced gamer myself I really enjoyed reading this part of the Relik guide myself.

* There is a strong focus on improving your reaction times and accuracy and other basic 'mechanics' of gameplay. It's kind of like a really fun bootcamp for a very fun game.

* Has a full guide for singleplayer and co-op campaign.

* The Relik Battlefield 3 map guides are very good.

* There are also some video walkthroughs of different parts of the game, including how to boost your kill death ratio.

* There is a strong focus on earning high Battlelog ratings.

* As far as I can tell, there is nothing in the Relik BF3 guide that risks getting you banned or booted from the server.

* The guide sells for $37 USD. Because it is sold through Clickbank (a popular digital publishing company) you get a 60 day money-back guarantee, and you get access to the Relik Battlefield 3 guide as soon as payment is made.

* My personal rating for this guide is 8/10.

Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide

Battlefield 3 Dominator is the newest strategy guide for BF3 online.

It was created by 'CJ', who is quite well-known for making quality game strategy guides, including Rift Supremacy. In my opinion he makes some of the best digital gaming products out there.

* BF3 Dominator guide focuses heavily on using video walkthroughs to show you how to master both the multiplayer and singleplayer game. The videos are high quality HD.

* There are no cheats or hacks used in CJ's guide, so you don't have to worry about getting banned or booted.

* There is a lot focus on teamwork, which is a huge aspect of successful Battlefield 3 gaming. If you are very serious about playing BF3 well then you need to know how to be a good team player. The strength of the teamwork guide in Battlefield 3 Dominator wins it a lot of points.

* The map guides in BF3 Dominator are great. CJ always makes the best map explanations for all his game guides, and the ones here are no exception. You will learn the best choke points and 'killing zones' for each map.

* There are complete class and weapon guides as well, including how to customize your weapons to maximize your efficiency.

* There is less of a focus on 'mechanics' than with the Relik guide, and instead greater importance is placed on teamwork and completing objectives. Therefore, Battlefield 3 Dominator is better suited to those who already have good FPS skills (ie you can shoot accurately and know how to use cover) This means that Dominator is better for more intermediate gamers, but Relik is better for absolute beginners.

* The presentation is not as good as Relik guide, but I prefer the content and walkthroughs.

* It retails for $34.99, and is also sold through Clickbank so you get the usual 60 day money back guarantee.

* CJ includes free updates.

* My personal rating is 9/10 - I like CJ's guides a lot, and this is no exception. It is my belief that this is the best Battlefield 3 guide.

Starks Battlefield 3 Guide

The final Battlefield 3 strategy guide we will be looking at today is Starks guide.

* It has been out for a bit longer than Battlefield 3 Dominator, but not as long as Relik Guide.

* It is a bit of a 'half way' house between Relik and Battlefield 3 Dominator guide. It caters to beginners and more experienced gamers alike.

* I personally wasn't too impressed with the guide. It is not hugely professionally presented, and doesn't offer anything over and above the other two guides in the way of the main guide.

* However, it does come with two quite neat bonuses- a BF3 battlefield survival guide, and an 'instant domination' report.

* You do get free updates for life.

* There is once again a money back guarantee.

* The guide retails for $37- the same price as Relik but a bit more expensive than BF3 Dominator.

* My personal rating is 6.5/10

How To Win At Battlefield 3

Today you are going to learn how to win at Battlefield 3 when playing multiplayer matches. Although it sounds like a simple thing to do, winning this game can actually sometimes be rather difficult. Therefore, it pays to learn how to play Battlefield 3 properly. Read this Battlefield 3 multiplayer guide to learn exactly what you need to do to win easily.

The most important thing you need to remember to win at BF3 when playing multiplayer is to focus squarely on completing the objective. Sure its fun to go around just trying to get as many kills as possible, or hijack all the planes and tanks and cause mayhem, but if everyone else on your team has the same idea too you are soon gonna find yourself losing. Therefore, the most important thing you can do when playing BF3 is focus on completing your objectives. Basically, you should only be engaging enemies who are actively preventing you from completing your stated objective. Don't go hunting enemies who aren't actively hampering you, as this will just wind up wasting your time in the end.

Along with sticking to your objective another important thing you need to do to win at Battlefield 3 is pick a class suited to your objective or style of gameplay. If you need to assault a position where you are likely to encounter lots of resistance then you should probably be playing as assault or support. On the other hand, you might need to be a recon if sneaking through enemy positions is the best option.

Finally, you need to realize the importance of teamwork if you want to win at Battlefield 3. I have mentioned this before, and will mention it again- this game is a team-based shooter, and therefore the team with the best cohesion is probably going to win, even against more experienced but individualistic players. Therefore you need to work on helping teammates out if you are determined to become a top BF3 player.

You should also consider reading a full Battlefield 3 strategy guide that will give you an even better picture of how to win BF3 games. I suggest you read my Battlefield 3 Dominator guide review to learn about this exciting new video BF3 strategy guide.

Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Tips

Today we are going to look at some useful Battlefield 3 multiplayer tips that you should take heed of to improve your game. Whether you are stuck with a crummy kill/death ratio, or you just want to know how to carve up the compeition, these BF3 multiplayer tips will certainly come in handy for you. Keep reading to learn how you can play Battlefield 3 like a totally different player.

The first Battlefield 3 multiplayer tip you really need to know is that teamwork is key in this game. Unlike hugely fast paced games such as Black Ops, where everything turns into a meatgrinder in a matter of seconds, teamwork and structure gameplay is vital if you want to win at BF3. The team with better teamwork; cooperation, strategy, and execution of team strategy, will almost always win, even if their individual players are less skilled. Of course team playing can be difficult when you don't get much of a chance to meet your team, but by using the communication tools provided by the game as fully as possible you are going to have a much greater chance of winning.

Secondly, you need to learn how to master the available classes in the game if you want to master Battlefield 3 multiplayer. Don't try and snipe with an engineer, and don't go trying to destroy tanks up close as a recon.  I suggest picking a class you really like, then sticking with it to build your abilities. At the same time, with regards to teamwork, don't stubbornly pick your favorite class if your team already has too many of that class. Instead, be flexible and be able to change classes for the benefit of your team.

Another useful BF3 multiplayer tip is to always aim your gun down the sights. Because of the more realistic hit detection and bullet physics model used in Battlefield 3, you can't really just spray and pray unless you are equipped with an LMG. Aiming down the sights will instead let you conserve ammo, and more importantly will enable you to hit targets more accurately. This will boost your score, and your gaming experience significantly.

Finally, you need to remember that practice makes perfect. The more you play the game, the better you will become. A lot of the current 'pros' on servers honed their skills on Battlefield 2, BFBC2, and the BF3 beta before the release of the final game. Therefore, you need to practice as much as possible if you really do want to become a top player.

Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide will also help you to play multiplayer like a champ. With its exclusive video guides to gameplay it is a seriously useful BF3 multiplayer strategy guide. Read my Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide review today.

Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide Review

The final release of Battlefield 3 has only been out for mere days, but already it is garnering tons of attention as perhaps one of the most exciting multiplayer games of the year. With servers full to the brim, PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 gamers are enjoying one of the most fun new games to have come out in a very long time. To help you play BF3 like a champ and become a player everyone else on the server envies, Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide has just been released. It is one of the first comprehensive Battlefield 3 multiplayer guides to come out, although it also features a total walkthrough of the singleplayer campaign as well.

Today you are going to read my Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide review. Just for reference purposes, I am playing the game on PC. Whilst the BF3 Dominator Guide applies universally, it is worth noting that the gaming experience is going to change depending on what platform you play on. Remember that the max number of players on PC is 64, whereas it is 24 on console. Also, some conquest maps have been shrunk for console. This will alter you strategy somewhat when playing the game.

Because online gaming is becoming more and more competitive, it pays to have the edge. Battlefield 3 Dominator claims to be the first video guide for Battlefield 3 multiplayer and single player. There are already some basic guides to BF3 multiplayer and singleplayer out there (things move fast online after all) but the real question is this- 'does Battlefield 3 Dominator deliver on its promise?'

What BF3 Dominator is promising to do is show you exactly how to dominate the game like a pro. There is a big disconnect between being a mediocre player, with a crummy kill/death ratio who nobody wants on their team, and being a truly great player. This is the same for all games, but Battlefield 3 is the hot topic right now so you want to be playing like a pro NOW, not later.

The first thing I really like about the Battlefield 3 Dominator guide, and perhaps the high point of this review, is the fact that it uses videos to teach you how to play properly. Reading a text guide to a game is both boring and not as informative as watching someone show you exactly what to do with high quality video and sound. There are complete Battlefield 3 video walkthroughs for all aspects of the game, including:
  • Mastering the basics of the game - this is great for beginners.
  • How and when to use all of the classes properly - chances are you don't really know which class to use and when, so this video is great.
  • Map strategies for each and every map - this enables you to get a strategic advantage every single time you play. Find the ultimate killzones with Battlefield 3 Dominator map guides. I personally enjoyed this part of the guide greatly.
  • How to master all game modes.
  • Become an effective team player.
Another thing about Battlefield 3 Dominator Guide that is very good are its detailed class and weapons guides. From customized weapons that are far more powerful than what other players have, to recommended class set ups, BF3 Dominator is as close to Battlefield 3 hacks as you can get without risking getting booted or banned.

There is also a comprehensive guide to the singeplayer portion of the game (although to be honest the singleplayer game is so easy you shouldn't need a walkthrough) It is nice to see video of it completed on the hardest difficulty for less experienced gamers though.

Now because this is a review of Battlefield Dominator Guide, there are a couple of negative aspects that need to be touched on. Firstly, the guide is fairly expensive, at $34.99 USD. Considering there are going to be plenty of text guides for the game available, you are paying the premium for videos and consistent updates (as well as those awesome map photos and guides) Is this premium worth it? In my opinion it is, as all but the most experienced of gamers will benefit a lot from what this guide has to offer. You also get a 60 day money-back guarantee, which means you can get your full purchase price refunded if you aren't happy.
